Upcoming changes to Dogs Trust subsidised neutering scheme
from 1st March 2016 (throughout N.Ireland)
There are two main changes.....
1) The owner's contribution to the neutering is rising to £35
2) They are now limiting the breeds that can be neutered through the scheme. The breeds covered will be....
Staffordshire Bull terrier
American Bull Dog
Akita / Husky / Malamute / Samoyed
Jack Russell Terrier
AND any crosses of the above breeds
3) The scheme is available for dog owners on means tested benefits only so proof of benefit will be required. (Photo ID may be requested for customers the practice is unfamiliar with)
Our advice on these changes if you are eligible....
(i) If you are thinking about neutering your dog and he or she is NOT one of these breeds, you've ONLY GOT ONE MONTH now to make avail of the subsidised scheme - after this you're on your own regrettably.
(ii) If you breed any of the above breeds, this change from the Dogs Trust would suggest that the market is saturated with these breeds and there could be difficulty finding them satisfactory homes so please think your breeding plans through carefully.
